New Orleans Art – Louisiana Life

About Me

About Me:
Angel Turner Dyke was born in West Monroe , Louisiana in 1969. She has been painting professionally since the late 1990’s.Her painting and creative drive were impacted in 1999 when she became a full time artist.
Angel has been married to her husband Joel for 19 years and has 2 beautiful teenage daughters who are a constant source of inspiration. She has been actively creating since she was old enough to hold onto a crayon, exploring the creative process as a small child.. Her passion for life is shown by her ability to depart from conventional thinking and her ability to take risks on canvas exploring an imaginative, whimsical world. Angel currently resides in northern Louisiana and works from her rural country studio accompanied by her family and her beloved pets, Boudreaux ( a gregarious Boston Terrier) , Peanut( a very loveable Yorkie), and Lexie Lulu Maria (a cute little bit of Chihuahua dynamite).
THE WORK
Her art reflects her passion for life, with a vibrant use of color. Angel spent 7 years abroad living in Mexico, where she acquired a love for explosive color. Her range of styles is quite eclectic, although her main genre are colorful New Orleans paintings. The French Quarter sights, sounds and smells seem to come to life when  viewing her whimsical paintings. You can almost hear the jazz floating through the air. New Orleans is one of  her favorite places on earth, where she seems to find a ” sync” all her own.Angel’s art explores all things Louisianan and is energized by her love of her own Louisianan heritage.
The main goal and satisfaction for Angel is creating a piece of art that brings a smile to the face of the viewer. The intention of her art is to bring happiness, joy and to brighten the homes of those who own her creations. Angel’s art is an extension of her philosophy on life: live, love and spread joy to those around you. Her followers all say that they are drawn to her paintings because of the cheerfulness they infuse.
Her form of art has been categorized as expressionist or post impressionistic. Angel also paints contemporary modern abstracts, florals, and whimsical still lifes. The common bond in all her creations are an exuberant use of extremely intense and brilliant color.
Her works are can be found in private collections throughout the US and abroad. She is a gallery represented artist, exhibiting in shows and displays offline and online as well. Angel welcomes inquires about commissioned works and is well versed in the commissioning process.
THE INSPIRATION
Angel chooses her life’s experiences, whether from almost a decade living abroad in Mexico, or her travels throughout the United States, the Caribbean, and the varied regions of Latin America, or her own special Louisiana as a basis for her inspiration. Her paintings are derived from her travels and created form her memories while traveling, by the use of photography or mental nuances of an experience or a region. Her followers all state that they are drawn to her work by the intense use of color and the emotional response each piece produces.
In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Angel has been active in working alongside of relief agencies helping her fellow Louisianans. By both volunteering and donating a portion of the proceeds from sales, her heart has been to help as much as she can to those most deeply affected by the storms. Together we will rebuild our beautiful New Orleans.
